Chapter Philanthropy and Service

Each year, as members of Zeta Tau Alpha, we support and raise money for our philanthropies, Breast Cancer Education & Awareness, and the ZTA Foundation. Whether it is hosting our own philanthropy events such as Pink Week and "ZINGO" or attending and volunteering at NFL games and Making Strides Walk in Orange County, we are always spreading awareness for the survivors and the 1 in 8 diagnosed women who have to put up a fight against Breast Cancer. We are proud to say that Theta Phi raises the most money for our philanthropies in our Southern California province.

To kick-off Greek Life events for the fall semester, we host our annual Pink Week the first week of October. During this week, we spread awareness for Breast Cancer by passing out our small pink ribbons that you will often see on the backpacks of our sisters and CSUF students. We also get other Panhellenic and Interfraternity chapters involved in our Pink Week, and this past year we did so by allowing them to decorate bras and by hosting our Crown Classic football game. This week as a whole allows us to recognize the fight that individuals with Breast Cancer have to face and overcome and spread it with other students on our campus.

This year, we introduced a new spring philanthropy event in March: 'ZINGO: A Zeta Bingo Afternoon," in which we invited our friends and family to enjoy an afternoon of bingo, refreshments, and the chance to win raffles and baskets from silent auctions. This year, we raised approximately $8,000! All proceeds are donated directly to our philanthropy, Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. ZINGO allows our sisters to spend time with loved ones while also sharing our philanthropic values and taking pride in being Zeta Tau Alpha women.

Hosting philanthropy events isn't the only way that CSUF Theta Phi participates in spreading awareness for our philanthropy. We get involved with our community by volunteering at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Orange County and at NFL games, like the Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams. At these events, we pass out our pink ribbons and support the women that have battled and/or are battling against Breast Cancer. We recognize the hardships and struggles that go along with fighting against this disease, with other members of the community, and commend those who have been able to beat the fight.
